Welcome to the Department of Social Welfare, Jeonbuk National University
The Department of Social Welfare at Jeonbuk National University was established in 1988 as the Department of Child Welfare and was renamed the Department of Social Welfare in 1989. In 1997, the Graduate School of Social Welfare was established, followed by the Graduate School of Public Policy (formerly the Graduate School of Administration) in 2004, enabling the department to offer bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs and to grow into a full-fledged social welfare academic unit.
Currently, the Department of Social Welfare participates in national initiatives for undergraduate education, including the National University Promotion Project and the Practical Competency Education Program. For graduate education, the department has been selected for the BK21 Project, working with an excellent faculty to cultivate highly competitive professionals.
Additionally, the department operates partner organizations, including the Jeonbuk Center for Gambling Prevention and Treatment, the Regional Children’s Center Jeonbuk Support Group, and the Jeonju Family Center.
